Conveying a message does not come as stylish as the bumper sticker. With stylized fonts and sometimes striking colors, the sticker can be affixed to your car, your room or any of your personal belongings. It contains a word or phrase, at times with images, aimed to be seen by other people. Bumper stickers can be bought at all bookstores, but why spend when you can create your own set?

Creation Options

You have a couple of options when creating a bumper sticker. The stylized message can be made from scratch, using art materials, a scanner, sticker paper and printer. If you don’t have the patience to sketch the message and design yourself, you can use Microsoft Word to create stickers. Both ways, you have to use the computer, so your sticker will look vibrant.

Method 1: Sketch and Scan

Using a piece of paper, you will sketch the message; stylize fonts, and create patterns. You can use any coloring medium as long as the resulting image looks vibrant. Upon settling on your design, scan it then print it, giving you your very own original bumper sticker.

Materials Used:

  • bond paper
  • sticker paper
  • pencil
  • art materials
  • computer
  • scanner
  • printer
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • sticker spray

Procedure:

  1. Think of a message, its font style and the overall design of your sticker.
  2. Sketch your concepts on bond paper. Use art materials, so the designs look edgy. Be creative.
  3. Select the best concepts then run them through a scanner, which imports your sticker designs to your computer. (Tips on how to use a scanner)
  4. Run the designs on Adobe Photoshop. Add effects and patterns, if you choose.
  5. Load the printer with good quality sticker paper.
  6. After finalizing the designs, print them.
  7. Spray your bumper stickers with sticker spray for a cool vibrant finish. The spray also serves as a protective coating, providing waterproofing to your stickers.

Ideally, bumper stickers contain short messages, sometimes only a single word. If you have something lengthy in mind, you can truncate it then complete the statement using images or patterns. It will look more appealing to you and its intended readers.
