Originally from mainland China, origami eventually found its way to Japanese shores where it became a veritable art form. Today, a lot of people around the world are into origami, simply because it is easy to make and it’s fun. Here, you’ll learn how to make an origami flower.

What you’ll need:

  • Piece of paper

How You’ll Do It:

Step 1

Using your piece of paper, make a water bomb base.

Step 2

Open one leg of the water bomb base. Squish it flat. Turn it over and do the same thing on the other side.

Step 3

Do the same on all the legs. The fold you’re doing is called a squish fold.

Step 4

Fold each of the corners, in what is called the petal fold. Back it up, and then bring the point to the top. Do it to all sides.

Step 5

Fold everything back to a diamond shape. Do it to all four legs.

Step 6

Fold the corners on the bottom end. Do all four sides.

Step 7

Take the petals and then fold them down; it will hold them in position.

Step 8

Release the petals and you should have your own origami flower.

If you’re strapped for cash, you can give it as a gift to your girlfriend. Better yet, you can teach her how to do it, spending more quality time with her!
