How to Make Beer

- barley malt (7 lbs)
- hops
- yeast packet
- milled grain (1.5 lbs)
- corn sugar (2/3 cup)
- airlock, 5 gallon bucket and spigot
- 3 gallon pot, wooden spoon and cheese cloth
- bottle capper and caps
- 40-50 beer bottles
Step by Step Procedure
Step 1
Take 3 gallons of water, put it in your pot and heat it to 150 to 180 degrees. When it’s reached the desired temperature it’s time to steep the grains for 20-30 mins.

Step 2
Remove the grain from the pot, and bring it back to boil. After that, turn off the heat and put in all your barley malt. Stir it up and put it back to a boil in a minute.

Step 3
While boiling again, put in you bittering hops. You’ll need about 2/3 of a 2 oz packet. Heat it for about 60 mins.

Step 4
While the hops are boiling, sanitize your bucket. Fill it with 5 gallons of water and take one cap of bleach. Pour it in and wait for an hour. Your beer is ready to come in.

Step 5
On the last 5 minutes or so of the boil, add about 1 oz. of fuggles or aromatic hops. Cool up your brew by putting it in a bathtub with water.

Step 6
After it’s cooled down to room temperature, it’s ready to go in our bucket. Put
in about 2 gallons of water into the bucket and mix in the brew.

Step 7
Once there you can put in your yeast, to turn all the fermentable sugars into
alcohol. Shake it up a bit and put the lid on tight. Take your airlock and put it in
there to prevent your oxygen from coming out. Leave it for about a week or so.

Step 8
Sanitize your bottle before bottling up your beer. Create your corn sugar mixture
by boiling 2/3 cup corn sugar with 1 cup of water. When your primer is complete,
pour it into your brew. Shake it up and the carbonation process begins.

Step 9
When your bottles are sanitized, fill up your bottles to about an inch from the
top. Cap them by putting the cap on top of the beer and pushing down with the
capper. After that, you have a capped beer ready to be drank in a
