Commercial tombstone replicas for Halloween can be quite pricey for something that you only get to use once a year. Also, some of them aren’t really that good in the first place. Solution? Make your own!

What you’ll need:

  • Styrofoam
  • Utility knife or cutter
  • Marker
  • Wire hanger
  • Pliers or wire cutters
  • Glue gun and glue

How You’ll Do It:

Step 1

Make a nice circle for the top of the tombstone. Use a string as a sort of compass to make a good cicular shape.

Step 2

Cut out the shape. Remember to always cut away from yourself or you might end up with a nasty wound.

Step 3

Start designing your tombstone. The common way is to add the usual “R.I.P.” on it. Add some more punch by actually carving the letters out.

Step 4

For the tombstone ornamentation, you can use 1/2″ thick styrofoam sheets. Draw them on the back and then cut them out.

Step 5

Stick the ornamentations to your tombstone using glue. Make sure that you do not use heavy or hot stuff or anything else that might eat through your styrofoam. You can use spray glue and make sure you spray evenly on both sides.

Step 6

Take the wire hanger and cut it in half. Put the two wires at the bottom, so you can stick the tombstone to whichever spot you want.

Step 7

For the finishing touch, paint the tombstone and you’re done!

Creativity is the key with creating your tombstone so make it as scary as possible. Now put it somewhere in your backyard, and your house will definitely have that creepy look for Halloween.
