What You’ll Need:

  • Plumber’s Epoxy
  • Solid Core Copper Wire
  • Armature Wire
  • Duct Tape
  • Foam
  • A Scrap Piece Of Wood
  • An Old Shirt
  • A Pair Of Jeans
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Modeling Clay
  • Refrigerator Magnet
  • Small Pieces Of Metal

How You’ll Do It:

Create the torso from a rectangular piece of wood that is 2×5 inches. The arms and legs will be solid core copper wire. For the feet, curve the wire into an L-shape and then sculpt some feet out of plumber’s epoxy. Once it has solidified you can start making puppet muscles.

Step 2

Use the foam and duct tape to build mass around the legs and arms, leaving the elbows and joints free from foam. Tape 4 wires to the end of the arms like little rakes. Then cover them in duct tape.

Step 3

The head would be a refrigerator magnet. Tape it into a cylinder and add an armature wire neck. After this create ears, hair and a nose from clay. Give it a fine paint job. Hot glue it onto the body. The skin around the neck and hands are just hot glue and foam.

Step 4

The puppet clothes are just cut from people clothes and glued into place. Because the head is a magnet you can use metal eyes, brows and eyes to convey emotion. Finish it up by gluing laces and painting the shoes.
