Materials Needed

  • Colored Origami Paper

Step by Step Procedure

Step 1

Take a square piece of origami with the colored side on the bottom. Fold it in half to make a rectangle. Unfold it and do it cone again for the opposite side to make a cross in the middle.

Step 2

Fold it diagonally to get a triangle. Unfold that and do it again on the opposite direction. Unfolding that will produce the lines that you’ll need.

Step 3

Fold in each of the corners so they fold in where you’ve created the lines. Do it for each of the corners until you form a smaller square.

Step 4

Fold them out again and fold the points into where you have intersecting lines. And fold it again into a trapezoid. Do this for all sides.

Step 5

Fold the entire thing in half with the colored part outside. Fold it in quarters so that you can see the little triangles you’ve made. Fold it over and do the same thing on the other side.

Step 6

After that, fold in the triangles that you’ve made to form right triangles. Do this for all sides. Note the crease line in the center. Make a bigger triangle from that line down to the edge of the little triangles you’ve made, without shifting the position of your little triangles.

Step 7

Take the bottom-most point and fold it up to the top, lining it up to the flat edge line. And do the same thing on the other side.

Step 8

Turn the boat inside-out. It should look like the screenshot with two triangles on either side and three folds. Stick your thumbs in the center of the boat so the middle fold is in between your thumbs. Turn the boat inside out by punching from the bottom while moving your thumbs in an opening motion to bring the bottom of the boat out. Flip it completely inside-put.

Step 9

Don’t push too much as to push the sides of the boat out. After that, make a little crease on either side. And there is your boat.

It takes time to master the art of origami but when you can make a paper airplane, boat and house, you can do just about anything!
