How to Make Stickers
Stickers are good tools for promotions or upping the aesthetic values of objects. They are used by people of all ages for a wide variety of reasons. Kids use stickers to make their belongings conform to their interests. Teenagers place bumper stickers on their cars to make their road machines look edgy. Politicians, on the other hand, use stickers to market their electoral campaigns. Clearly, stickers are pretty useful in their own little ways.
The Adhesive Surface
Stickers come in different appearances but all of them go through a similar creation process. They all need an adhesive layer to make them stick on almost any surface. That layer is called sticker paper. Sticker paper works just like the sticky portion of a Post-It. A layer of paper covers the adhesive surface, that preserves the adhesive’s stickiness. It is available in most bookstores and office supply stores.
Sticker Designs
A sticker can be designed in so many ways. You can draw and color images. You can also take photographs, then create sticker versions. Affix glitters or small hologram layers on your sticker and its appeal totally changes. To protect the designs from fading or getting damaged, you can cover your sticker with contact paper.
Creating a Sticker
Stickers are not hard to make. You just need to apply a good design and be precise with your materials. If you are patient enough, you should be creating bunches of stickers in no time.
Materials Used:
- bond paper
- sticker paper
- contact paper
- computer
- printer
- scissors
- photo manipulation software (if necessary)
- tiny adornments (optional)
Procedure:
- Think of a good design for your sticker. You can draw, take pictures (digicam) or get designs from the Internet. If you opt to draw or take printed photos for your sticker, you will need a scanner to transfer it to your computer. Remember, computer-generated prints have vivid colors, which are perfect for stickers.
- Once you have created your design, edit it using a photo manipulation software.
- Print it on bond paper and see if you are satisfied with the result. Edit the design again if necessary.
- When you have finalized the appearance of your sticker, load the sticker paper on your printer.
- Print your sticker.
- Cut your sticker from the sheet of sticker paper.
- If you want to make your sticker look cute, place glitters, hologram strips and other tiny adornments on your sticker.
- Cut the contact paper, matching the size of your sticker’s front portion.
- Stick the contact paper to the front of your sticker.
Making stickers is just as fun as affixing them. With a good artistic sense, you can create stickers that can make any item look cool.
