How to Make Fake Blood
by howtomakestuff Posted on August 21st, 2008
Placing fake blood on your face and body is a good way to play pranks on your friends. At night, you can walk around the block doused with fake blood, chance up on your friends, then give them a frightful surprise. They will surely scream like little kids after such an experience. Better make a good supply of fake blood soon before any of your friends beat you to the idea.
A Bloody Cocktail
Creating fake blood is just like making a cocktail. The measurement of the ingredients have to be precise to produce the right color and consistency. A tiny miscalculation can make the blood a bit too dark or a little too thick. You have the luxury of tweaking the amounts of each ingredient, if you want to change the blood’s properties.
Materials Used:
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 tsp red food coloring
- 4 tbsp corn syrup
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 drops green food coloring (optional)
- hand sanitizer (if necessary)
- mixing bowl
Procedure:
- Place the water and the cocoa powder into a mixing bowl. Mix both ingredients thoroughly before proceeding.
- Add the corn syrup, one teaspoon at a time, so that you can check the mixture’s consistency. Just like the popular saying, your fake blood must be thicker than water. Keep adding corn syrup until you arrive at your desired thickness. If the mixture becomes too thick, simply add more water.
- Carefully add the red food coloring. If you accidentally make the blood too red, you can add water to the mix. You can also make the blood darker by adding green food coloring.
- Once you get your desired color and consistency, mix the solution again then let it settle.
- Remove the residue that forms on the surface of your fake blood.
- Splash a small amount of fake blood on a rug and see how it appears. Refer to steps two and three, if you still need to adjust the blood’s properties. You can also add hand sanitizer if you want to instantly lessen the blood’s viscosity.
Fake Alien Blood
Green alien blood looks creepy. People will assume that your are a monstrous Martian, if you douse yourself with green fake blood. Now you can create your very own fake alien blood. You just have to follow the same steps when making fake human blood, only this time you have to switch the amounts of the red and green food coloring.
Fake Bloodstains
Fake bloodstains spiked on walls can be scary. You will immediately think that someone has been murdered in the area. To create such an effect, follow the steps in making fake blood but decrease the amount of red food coloring. Bloodstains should appear to be a little brighter than fresh blood because the color of blood slightly fades when it hits a surface.
Well-made fake blood can easily be mistaken for the real thing. Perfect the art of its creation and you will certainly paint the town red…with food coloring.
