How To Make Christmas Ornaments
Posted on April 28th, 2008The Yuletide season is characterized by the cold winter season and the warmth of Christmas cheer. This mix of contradicting characteristics may seem confusing but once you look at a group of Christmas ornaments, you will understand. Christmas ornaments come in the form of glittery garlands, mistletoes, Christmas balls, and snowmen to name a few. They look good when displayed and you will feel even better if you, yourself, created your own Christmas ornaments. You can say that your household’s Christmas cheer was literally built by your own two hands.
Spread Your Own Christmas Cheer
Christmas ornaments are made from cheap materials. Of course, you just go to a department store and purchase all the cheap ornaments that you need but that act takes away the sentimentality of sparking the Christmas spirit in your household. Remember that Christmas is all about spreading love and joy. You are actually spreading someone else’s Christmas intent when you purchase ready-made Christmas ornaments. Better own up to the season and make your own Christmas ornaments.
Creating Christmas Ornaments: The Basics
All Christmas ornaments are easy to create. You can make a Christmas garland by simply gluing glitters, shiny paper ruffles and makeshift leaves to a long string. As for Christmas balls, you can remember some of our high school art projects and create balls out of paper mache. Paint the balls with Christmas colors (green and red) then cover them with glitters. The mistletoe is the easiest since you just need to tie plastic berries in between two plastic leaves.
The Snowman: The Christmas Art Project
The snowman is perhaps the most challenging to make among all Christmas ornaments but it is also the most fun to create. You will pile slabs of snow until you create a foundation strong enough to keep the snowman upright. Once done, you can stick the arms, facial features and the “clothes” of your snowman to the appropriate places. You can also personalize your snowman en route to creating your own Christmas story right in your own backyard. Sounds fun right?
Christmas ornaments may be small and simple items but when assembled, they can remind us how we should act and interact during the Christmas season. Once you master the creation of Christmas ornaments, you might be able to create ornaments that can make people act as if the Christmas season lasts for the whole year. Now, that’s truly special.
