How To Make A Dreamcatcher
Dreams are just like poems. They are filled with symbols that you can relate to your own life. You can interpret each symbol to determine things about your future or the current problems you are facing. Some dreams can even give you hints on what to do next if you’re currently stuck in a rut.
Of course, not all dreams are favorable due to the presence of nightmares. You can readily avoid these dreaded dreams if you have a mystical item called a dreamcatcher. Make one now if you’ve been having sleepless nights.
A dreamcatcher looks like a stylized talisman with its webbing and its hanging little ornaments. It comes in an assortment of colors but the pattern of its central webbing remains standard. Marked by its intricate design, the dreamcatcher seems pretty hard to create. If you look at its webbing’s pattern closely, you will find out that it is not too complicated after all. The pattern is just like a slightly complex version of the star that kids create when they play with rubber bands.
Dreamcatchers are not really expensive when you purchase them from cultural stores. In fact, a do it yourself dreamcatcher is only a few dollars cheaper than a purchased one. So what’s the point of creating your own dreamcatcher? There is a belief that mystical charms like the dreamcatcher work better if they are crafted by your own two hands.
Materials Used:
- metal ring
- glue
- feathers
- string
- lace
- tiny beads
To start, wrap a metal ring with string then cover everything with lace. Make sure that the string is long enough to create the webbing inside the ring. Just like playing with a rubber band, knot and loop the string until you form the central webbing of the dreamcatcher. Cut off excess portions of the string to keep the connected string tense. You can now slide in a few beads to the webbing to make the item look more mystical. Once done, you can proceed to stylize the outer portion of your dreamcatcher.
Create knots on the outer portion of the ring with the remaining supply of lace. Inside those knots, you can tie beads and feathers. You can add a few more accessories and ornaments to this layer, depending on your personal preference. On the topmost portion of the ring, place a knot then a tie a string to it. The string will serve as the point where you can hang the dreamcatcher on the wall or anywhere near your bedside.
At this point, your dreamcatcher is ready. Hang it near your bed for a worry-free slumber. Rest assured that your dreamcatcher will filter out the ghouls and ghosts from your dreams.
