How To Make An Egg Suncatcher
by howtomakestuff Posted on October 13th, 2004Materials:
Wax Paper
Old Crayons
Newspaper
Iron
Instructions:
Cut two egg shapes from wax paper (You can use this picture for a pattern if you like). Lay a few sheets of newspaper on on your work surface.
Place one of the egg shapes on the newspaper. Turn on your iron to a low setting with no steam.
With an adults help, use grater to make shavings from old crayons. Sprinkle the shavings on your wax paper egg shape.
Make designs with your shavings if you like.
Once your shavings are in place, set the other egg shape on top of the shavings. Make sure the edges of the eggs match up as well as possible.
Gently place a few pieces of newspaper on top of your design. Press the newspaper on top of the egg shapes with your iron. Since all irons are different you will have to experiment with the time it takes for this project.
It is complete when all the crayon shavings melt and both egg shapes stick together. Let cool and hang in your window!
